Vicki Pitman, Plasmawr School reports on how well pupils who have been working with Fairwater Connections have done. She commented:
"We are busy marking the   Welsh Baccalaureate Community Challenges now. The last group has done an amazing job and I'd like to thank Louise and Pat for enabling the pupils to achieve this challenge. The experiences provided were valuable and enabled the pupils to develop their essential employability skills"

We are delighted to announce that our project will start shortly.

It is a community research project aimed at extending access and addressing quality of life of vulnerable older people in Fairwater.

The project will deliver a series of health and well-being events in Fairwater Day Centre aiming to involve a wide range of local people including older people.

The events will be staffed by volunteers, including school students via the Welsh Baccalaureate.
We will be working with consultants to deliver the project and if you are interested in working with us, the details are on the website, or click here

The Cowbridge Unusual Plant sale drew a carload of Fairwater Gardeners on Saturday 12th September. We spent lots of time and money at the stalls, had lunch in the Quarter Penny cafe and then looked around the Physic Garden. Here's the car on the way home!

The Fairwater Gardeners group meet regularly to visit each other's gardens, share ideas, seeds and cuttings, and help each other out with jobs. If you'd like more information contact Pat on 07816 498108

Introduction to the Fairwater project

This is an informal event with food for anyone interested in 'collaborative living' in Fairwater.
Perhaps you live around here or perhaps you are interested in the ideas.
Come along and join in the informal chat and share some food.

When : Wednesday 21st October 2015 7pm - 9pm
Where : Louise's house in Fairwater - ring 0796 184 2901 for details.
Bring some food to share if you can.

We are part of the UK Cohousing Network, but our version involves us living near each other in existing housing in Fairwater and getting involved in local community activities. We have recently set up a lively self-help gardening group. Our longer term vision would be to establish some sort of shared spaced..... our cohouse for meals, supporting each other and learning together.

Creating Connections in Fairwater

17/5/2014

Cohousing Cardiff  is reforming – developing community where we live … in Fairwater

Come and join in the discussion of how we might help each other live healthy, bigger lives and at the same time use less of the earth’s resources.

  • Sharing goods , like lawnmowers, trampoline, even cars
  • Growing veg, mending and re-using all sorts of things from clothes to tools,
  • Supporting each other when needed – from feeding someone’s cat to fetching the milk
Concentrating on our strengths, we are developing local friendships that will increase the options and pleasures in life – to include meeting for coffee and chat, bring-a-dish dinners…. rather than unrealistic dreams of developing a multi-million pound new-build Cohousing project.

Thursday 26th June 5-7pm Fairwater Library

We are launching the group, so a very brief AGM will take place, then an open discussion to get to know each other and pool ideas. Drink in the Fairwater pub from 7pm- catch us there if you can’t make it earlier.

The focus of our group is Fairwater, but anyone welcome.

Contact Louise 0796 184 2901 or just turn up
